Sparrowwood is a chance for campers with different developmental needs to be accepted for who they are and celebrated for all they have to offer. Focusing on abilities rather than disabilities fosters the shared sense of radical acceptance that helps define the Glisson experience. Campers are not only included in the greater community by being part of Village living groups and visiting Outpost, they lead the way at can’t-miss events like Sparrowwood chapel, dance, and talent show – causing all involved to see we are more alike than we are different.
Sparrowwood is a vital and cherished part of our camp ministry designed specifically for campers with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. Campers are cared for by trained counselors with a 1:2 counselor-to-camper ratio. Sparrowwood campers join up with a Village living group for multiple activities each day including creek hikes, arts and crafts, swimming and events such as the Sparrowwood Dance and Sparrowwood's Got Talent. Sparrowwood campers also join Outpost campers one afternoon and evening for hiking, games, and dinner and s'mores. Our hope for Sparrowwood is to show God’s great love to all of our campers. In all we do, we pray that each person involved -- parents, caregivers, campers, and staff -- will be touched by God's love.
Their counselors! Sparrowwood counselors receive specialized training on how to care for campers with a range of different disabilities. They are dedicated to keeping campers safe and involved in the many exciting activities each week.
To register you must complete and send in the Sparrowwood Application and Health Form 1. Note that Sparrowwood does not use our online registration system. Please print out those two Sparrowwood-specific forms, fill them out, and then fax, mail, or email them to:

"Our son looks forward to camp all year long. He is already asking when he will be going back. We are so appreciative of the amazing job you do with our special kids!"
