"My daughter just got back tonight from the best week of her life. Thank you for loving our children and providing this amazing camp where our kids can learn and see God at work."

- Karen, parent of a 2011 camper

We're glad you've found our home on the web. Glisson Camp & Retreat Center has a variety Summer Camp programs. The easiest way to grasp what Glisson offers is to break the programs into six categories -- the same ones found on the Summer Camp homepage and the wooden tabs above. You can also open a brochure-like PDF in a new window by clicking on the image to the right. If you have any questions, view our FAQs or About Glisson pages, or Contact Us.

1. Village Camp

Who's it for?    Rising grades 2nd thru 12th
What's it like?    Village is a traditional, residential camp where campers stay in cabins on-site. They spend the week experiencing a variety of
activities with their living groups, enjoying several Glisson traditions such as singing-on-the-porch and creek hikes, experiencing God's creation on trails or around the campfire, and worshiping in the Chapel. Village has the feel of a large community, while still focusing on small group relationships. Campers are still "in the woods," but have niceities such as hot showers in every cabin.

2. Adventure Outpost

Who's it for?     Rising grades 2nd thru 12th
What's it like?     Very different from Village. Campers live on the other side of Falls Mountain at the Outpost -- an open field and surrounding wooded area they sleep in Adirondack shelters, help cooks meals in a covered kitchen and dining pavilion, and worship in an outdoor chapel. Campers
take day or overnight trips to kayak, rock climb, ride horses, backpack, and explore caves. Outpost focuses on building Christian community in Creation and on gaining outdoor skills.

3. Sparrowwood

Who's it for?     Ages 7-40+
What's it like?    Sparrowwood is a program specifically designed for campers with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. Campers are grouped by age, cared-for by trained counselors with a 1:2 counselor-to-camper ratio. Sparrowwood campers enjoy most of the same activities that Village campers do, and in many cases integrate with Village living group activities.

4. Leadership Program

Who's if for?     Rising 10th graders through graduated high school seniors
What's it like?    Two different opportunities to grow and serve -- the Leader-In-Training (LIT) program for rising 10-12th graders is a two-week session which includes one week of leadership training in Village Camp and a second week leading an off-site Day Camp. The Crew program for graduated seniors is a four-week summer session that focuses on servant leadership and discipleship while serving as the "backbone" of the Summer Camp operation.

5. Summer Staff

Who's it for?    Rising college sophomores and older
What's it like?    The best summer job ever  -- summer staff go through extensive training and work incredibly hard for an 11-week summer. The hard work definitely pays off each time you see a camper smile, help someone accomplish something they thought they could not do, or hear that a camper grew closer to God during his or her time at Glisson.

6. Day Camps

Who's if for?     Rising 2nd-6th graders
What's it like?     A portable Camp Glisson -- Glisson's Day Camp program is a partnership between Glisson and local congregations in ministry with children. Day Camps are distinctive from other church programs as they bring the flavor of summer camp to the local church.
