Morgan returned home with a renewed faith and Christian experience. Shes been almost mournful over her Glisson family and missing them. Again, Camp Glisson was a wonderful experience for her.

Opportunities to Give
Considering making a gift to Glisson? The future of Camp Glisson is in the hands of our supporters. The fees paid by summer campers and retreat groups cover the direct costs of day-to-day operations, but do not help address the long term sustainability or growth of our ministries. Facility improvements, emerging ministries and our ability to offer financial assistance to campers in need are just a few examples of how your gifts to Glisson continue to offer spiritual experiences for campers and retreaters to meet Christ face-to-face on this holy ground.
The Glisson Annual Fund gives you the opportunity to support overall ministry of Camp Glisson. Gifts to the Annual Fund are used for a wide range of initiatives, including:

- Emerging ministries
- Facility improvements

One of the ways Glisson recognizes donors is through giving levels. Membership in the giving levels listed below is based on yearly gifts to the Glisson Annual Fund:
| Mountain Climbers | $10,000 and above |
| Creek Hikers (Sponsor a Living Group) |
$5,000 - $9,999 |

| Staff Circle | $700 - $1,199 |
| Counselor Circle | $300 - $699 |
| Camper Circle | $100 - $299 |
| Decade Club* | any gift amount |
* The Decade Club includes former campers or staff who are less than 10 years removed from summer camp.
Sponsor a Camper
For 2010, supporters can sponsor a camper with a pledge of $450 to the 2010 Glisson Campership Fund. This amount will cover the base cost of sending one camper to summer camp.
Gifts of any size can help sponsor a camper. Just indicate "sponsor a camper" in the memo line of your check, or in the comment section of your on-line gift, and your gift will be combined with others to help make summer camp more affordable for children and youth whose families may be experiencing financial difficulties.
Sponsor a Counselor
With a pledge of $1,600 to the 2010 Annual Fund, you will sponsor a specific counselor for the summer. This gift will underwrite the summer stipend for the counselor you will be sponsoring, and giving at this level will qualify you for membership in the Circle of 100.
In return for your sponsorship, you will receive:
- a framed photo of your sponsored counselor
- full biographical information
- his or her email address
- a personal note from the counselor you've sponsored
- membership in the "My Friend" Circle
- contact with your sponsored counselor, including emails, letters and care packages, will be encouraged
Gifts of any size can help to sponsor a counselor. Just indicate "sponsor a counselor" in the memo line of your check, or in the comment section of your on-line gift, and your gift will be combined with others to support a member of our summer staff.
Giving groups, such as youth groups, Sunday school classes, alumni groups and civic organizations, are encouraged to combine resources and sponsor a counselor together as a team pledge. Individuals may also consider approaching civic groups, churches and foundations as partners in their sponsorship.
Sponsor a Living Group
A living group includes 12 campers and two counselors. You can sponsor an entire living group with a pledge to the 2010 Annual Fund in the amount of $5,100. This amount covers the cost of one week of camp for all 12 campers in the Living Group, and the weekly stipend for the two counselors in that group. Giving at this level will qualify you for membership in the Circle of 100.
Sponsorship includes membership in the "My Friend" Circle, as well as an invitation from the Camp Director to visit camp during the summer season. During your visit, you will:
- attend chapel
- participate in a living group activity
- have lunch with a living group in the Dining Hall
- be taken on a tour of camp by a staff member
You will receive a thank-you plaque with a picture of your Glisson living group.
Giving groups, such as youth groups, Sunday school classes, alumni affinity groups and civic organizations, are encouraged to combine resources and sponsor a living group together as a team pledge. Individuals may also consider approaching civic groups, churches and foundations as partners in their sponsorship.
Other Ways to Give
While gifts to the Glisson Annual Fund are unrestricted, allowing Glisson the flexibility to allocate the funds to the area of greatest need, any gift can be designated for something specific. We want all donor gifts to be reflective of the giver's heart and passion, so the gift can be as meaningful for the giver as it is for Glisson.
Your gift can be designated for virtually any specific initiative you wish within the framework of Camp Glisson operations. Following are some examples of how a gift to Glisson could be designated:
- Camperships. The Glisson Campership Fund offers financial assistance to those summer campers whose families are unable to afford the cost of summer camp on their own. The Campership Fund helps campers in the Village, Outpost and Sparrowwood programs. For 2010, the needs have already exceeded the levels we saw in 2009!
- Building program. Gifts designated for the building program are allocated to the building project in effect at the time the gift is made. At present, gifts to the building program will help us complete the funding for the swimming pool project.
- Endowment. Gifts to the Endowment would not be utilized in the short-term, but would be invested to grow for many years. These funds would ultimately ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of Glisson ministries through initiatives such as property acquisition, facility modernization and capital improvements.
- Gifts in honor or memory of a loved one. Any gift, whether it be to the Glisson Annual Fund or designated for something specific and regardless of the amount, can be made in honor or in memory of a loved one. Simply provide that person's name when submitting the gift.
Naming a Gift
The Camp Glisson staff understands that some gifts to the camp are made with the hope or expectation that an individual will be recognized by the naming of a building, room, or other improvements in honor of, or in memory of, the donor or someone else.
Named gift opportunities generally begin at the $10,000 level. Any gift at or above that level qualifies as a named gift opportunity. The procedures governing the naming of gifts are governed by the Glisson gift acceptance policy. If you are interested in a named gift opportunity, we would be happy to discuss that with you.
Gift Acceptance Policy
In order to protect the interest of Camp Glisson and the persons who support its ministry, the Board of Directors has approved a gift acceptance policy designed to assure that all gifts to, or for the use of, Camp Glisson are structured to provide maximum benefits to both Camp Glisson and our donors.
This policy focuses on both current and deferred gifts, including:
- Outright gifts in the form of cash, checks or on-line credit card donations.
- Securities, real estate and tangible personal property
- Deferred gifts, including bequests, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities and gifts of life insurance
The goal of this policy is to encourage funding of the camp without encumbering the organization with gifts which may prove to generate more cost than benefit, or which are restricted in a manner which is not in keeping with the mission of Camp Glisson.
Any questions regarding the Glisson gift acceptance policy, or about making a gift in general, should be directed to Phil Dodson, Director of Development - developmentdir(at)campglisson.org.
Thank you for your support of this vibrant Christian ministry!
