Outpost

Come get involved in the best outdoor experiential education around! Outpost is for rising 2nd-12th graders who desire to gain wilderness experience and grow in their faith. Re-designed in 2011, Pioneer, Frontier, and Expedition programs intentionally incorporate a skills-based progression so campers can experience and learn outdoor skills at deeper levels.

Pioneer Camp (rising 2nd-6th) is designed specifically for younger campers. Campers stay at Outpost during the week and take part in exciting activities as they explore and learn basic outdoor living skills.

Frontier Camp (rising 7th-9th) builds off of Pioneer Camp to teach a higher level of outdoor skills. Each week includes a 1-2 night adventure trip focusing on introductory skills for a specific outdoor activity--Horseback Riding, Rock Climbing, Kayaking, or Backpacking.

Expedition Camp
(
rising 10th-12th) progresses to week-long adventure trips that allow our most experienced campers to hone their skills in specific activities: Rock Climbing, Kayaking, or Backpacking.

Tour Outpost

Campers begin their week at the Outpost site. While staying at Outpost, campers sleep in covered, open-air shelters, participate in counselor/camper led devotions, learn wilderness skills they can use the rest of their lives, and eat hot and tasty meals they prepare together in the outdoor kitchen. Through all of these activities, campers will experience the grace of God while living in creation.

Pioneer campers will sleep in Adirondack shelters and cook meals in the kitchen pavilion at the Pioneer site. They will also spend one night camping out under tarps on our own Falls Mountain for their Home-In-The-Woods experience. Frontier campers will stay just a short hike away at the Frontier site. Built in 2012, this new site includes a dining shelters, a private pond, and open-air, covered platform shelters. Having a dedicated Frontier site allows Glisson to offer an improved small group camping environment for the different age groups of Pioneer and Frontier camps. Expedition campers will spend one to two nights in covered shelters at Outpost. For the rest of their nights, they will set up tarp shelter camp sites on the trail, along the river, or at the rock face.
